Portion control

This is a BIG one for the endurance athlete.

They train a lot, so consequently they eat a lot.

In fact, a lot of triathletes get into the sport just so they can get away with eating a lot.

I remember as a younger, less experienced man saying many a time, the the best thing about sport was that I could eat what I liked.

The truth is though, that I count and you can’t – NOT unless you are one of the lucky ones:

The genetically gifted.

Chances are if you were you would not be reading this.

So how can you control your appetite?

Firstly, you need to eat the right foods.

Foods which fill you up.

These are generally foods which are high in natural fats and proteins.

Ironically the triathlete diet is still very carb heavy, which makes feeling fuller more difficult.

Thats not to say you should remove carbs but you do in my opinion need to have a good fat and protein content.

Once you’ve got this in order, its about getting good sleep.

It is a proven fact that those who sleep less, eat more – how is your sleep?

For me though, the number one thing you can do is eat meals which not only fill you but you also find tasty.

In the past when people went on a diet, that meant boring bland food.

If though you could eat tasty food, be full and it be healthy, that would be the perfect scenario.

And…..

You can – it just means educating yourself how.

This is what I started my private coaching group – The Total Triathlete:

The Total Triathlete

On sign up you get my E-book which is full of such recipes.

The book also talks you through how to set calories and macro nutrients for your body type.

You can then ask me any questions on your nutrition via the Facebook group.

Post your days nutrition and have me review it.

The group is working for people right now.

People are losing fat and getting faster, all for £10/$12 ish a month.

That is a steal and not only will make you a better athlete but a healthier person.
