How NOT to get fat this Christmas

UnknownI love this time of year.

But….

That enthusiasm has meant in the past that I’ve got a little carried away with the booze and chocolate!

So what to do, especially if you still plan on having a good time?

Well first and foremost I think there needs to be some acceptance.

Acceptance that you want to have fun but that fun doesn’t have to mean too much indulgence.

Here are my tips on how to have a good time but not do too much damage:

1:

Keep training as much as possible.

There may be days when its hard to get out for a run or long ride but you can do a lot of good in 10 minutes.  A body weight circuit like this is great for burning fat:

20 squats
10 press ups
1 min plank
20 lunges
10 burpees

Repeat 3-5 times

2:

High protein

When eating out try to go for as much protein as possible and drink only wine and spirits.  This will keep calories low

3:

One bad meal does not mean a bad week of meals

If you have had a particularly heave night or a bad meal out make sure that the next day you feed your body some good stuff.  Lots of veg and fruit to replace the vitamins and minerals needed for good health

4:

Wine and water combo

Obvious, but for every alcoholic drink have a glass of water.  This will slow your drinking and keep hydration levels so you can train ok the next day.

I made a video earlier this week which actually talks you through how you can eat more and still lose some fat.

I always think the week leading up to Christmas is the best, so have a great time and I’ll see you on the other side!
