Why do daily weigh ins?

Unknown-2When someone is on a weight loss journey, they seem to want fat to disappear instantly.

Probably similar to when someone wants to save money, they want it all now but without the hard work.

The person with fat to lose will look at leaner people and feel bad, just like a less well off person looks at someone in a nice car and assumes they are rich.

This is a form of torture which has no positive effect whatsoever.

Weighing yourself daily is the same.

Fat won’t disappear after a good days eating, like it won’t appear after a bad days.

However the scales will change due to so many reasons, like:

Amount eaten
Type of food eaten
Salt content
Carbohydrate content
Water consumed or not
etc, etc

These are the things which will affect scale weight on a daily basis.

So why do it?

Because we need to feel like we are making progress and that motivates us.

Likewise the opposite is of course true.

What would be a better strategy?

Either weekly or bi weekly weigh ins and navel measurement every other week.

This will actually allow the body to make some changes in the time between measurements.

It does however mean dealing with the daily grind of NOT knowing if you’re making progress and that takes a confidence and support.

It’s exactly why I created my private coaching group – The Total Triathlete:

The Total Triathlete

We have weekly weigh ins and navel measurements that you can share if you like on the private Facebook page.

For some sharing is motivational, it means someone other than themselves cares!

On membership you will receive a copy of my book.

You will get a meal plan.

You get the chance to ask me via the fb page anything you like.

You get a weekly live Q&A.

All of this is £10 a month/12 ish USD and you can unsubscribe any time.

If you need some support and a positive influence to move you forward, this is for you.

Other triathletes who train hard, manage busy lives and who want to be the best version of themselves are inside and along with me, they can help you.
