What food and when?

There are a few basic nutrition principles, that everyone should live by.

Things like eating plenty of veg and fruit.

Being aware of how many is too many calories.

And making sure you get enough protein.

These principles definitely hold true for the Triathlete but…………

Because of the demands that you are placing on your body, more detail is necessary.

Optimising this detail will allow you to recover better and perform better.

In doing this, you give yourself a far greater chance of losing unwanted body fat and as a result not only will you be quicker and look better but you will also be healthier.

So on top of the basic principles above, also:

1 – Eat lower GI carbs before training
2 – Eat higher GI carbs after training
3 – Set yourself nutritional and body composition goals, like you would with your training

In doing everything above, you will make improvements.

The problem then will be just doing it and that is where some accountability and encouragement come in.

It’s why I set up my Private Coaching Group – The Total Triathlete:

The Total Triathlete

I encourage the members to post their days nutrition as often as they can, even the bad days.

On a good day I can have a look and make some suggestions.

The bad days generally speak for themselves.

This is often the missing ingredient for so many people:

ACCOUNTABILITY

It’s what the pros have daily and it really makes the difference.
