It’s all in the cabbage

imageI remember my Dad telling me that when I was a young boy, struggling to compete with the other kids at sports day.

Of course the cabbage being in his world the head.

Was he right?

Definitely.

Whatever your objectives it all starts with a thought, maybe a dream.

From there its about staying focussed, motivated and believing that:

“Its worth it”

As a kid and young adult my “cabbage” was NOT operating properly.

– I didn’t understand that you had to commit to something.

– That results didn’t come instantly.

– That not getting things perfect didn’t mean it wasn’t worth doing.

– That somethings come easier to others.

– That maybe I would just need to work a bit harder.

You see, I see myself as pretty talentless and if I am honest all of my early life would back that up.

Very average to poor school performance.

Very average to poor athletic ability.

And perhaps most important of all at that age – useless with the ladies!

However, things changed but I didn’t get talented unfortunately.

I realised that most people were scared, scared of losing, scared of failing, scared of living and I am not.

I prefer to be uncomfortable, I prefer to sacrifice things to try and get better, I like the fact that I am prepared to try.

Again, if I am honest a lot of the time I fail.

But, in some ways I think thats better – I’ve learnt a lesson and believe you me I’ve learnt a lot.

But, its not all about me (a lesson I still struggle to accept).

So my message today is this……..

Don’t just dip your toe in – Jump in.

You might, gasp a bit whilst you get used to the cold but then you’ll be fine and it will be a lot less painless.

Nutrition, training, whatever – Just Do It!
