Hungry on the bike?

UnknownNothing seems to get me hungrier than long bike rides.

Let me tell you a little story:

Some years ago I’d come back from holiday and felt a little fat and threw myself straight back into training.

The first session back was a 90 min ride at a steady pace – Zone 2 ish.

I had 2 rounds of toast and off I went – It was a hot day.

All was going well until I got lost – This was pre any gps devices.

I’d started the ride slightly quicker than I should and quickly tired – my legs felt horrific.

I stopped at the side of the road and just sat down for a while until a fellow cyclist passed – he asked if all was well:

“No – I’ve run out of energy”

I explained the situation and he gave me a one pound coin and told me there was a garage up the road where I could get something to eat.

And off he went like a knight in shining armour, on a specialised allez sport instead of a stallion.

I’ll never forget him – at the time, I felt like he’d saved my life.

I bought some sweets and a small bottle of water and within a short while I was OK and found my way home.

What a fool I was!

If you’ve ever run out of energy or “bonked” you will know how horrific it is.

The stupid thing is I’ve done it loads of times – non in the last 10 years you’ll be pleased to know but when I was a young whipper snapper I gave my diet no thought whatsoever.

Of course it is being fuelled properly which prevents the dreaded bonk.

The problem though is that when we are trying to lose fat, we so often don’t fuel properly, we are after all in a calorie deficit.

Hence the risk of bonking is high.

That is unless you know how to eat properly.

Not the “Lean in 15” way, or whatever the latest craze is.

The right way for you, the right way for an endurance athlete.

That is precisely why I wrote by book – The Triathlon Nutrition Code:

http://www.nutri-tri.com/e-books/

It teaches you how to set up the perfect diet plan for you.

For you body type.

For your genetics.

For your weight.

For your goals.

I’ve sold hundreds so far, which I feel really proud of.

It’s always a risk putting yourself on the line and the fact that people buy it, read it, like it and implement it means the world to me.
